“I found the Dear Artist's Circle to be so attuned to what I was feeling at the time as I was shifting my ideals around what it means to be an artist.  Being a member of this group of gorgeous women from all over the world has provided me with a sounding board to share openly and gain insight into other's experiences, dreams and journeys within in safe and considerate space. ” — Kelly Basford, Founding Member

A Message from Dear Artists Circle Founder Benz Amataya

Hi artists! Welcome to this little art corner of the internet. I’m so happy you’ve found Dear Artists Project. Here is my invitation for you to join our beautiful and growing community.

As a self taught artist who didn’t go to art school, I don’t have many art friends in real life. Instagram used to be a place where I would connect with other artists around the world.

This still happens, but as we know, the platform has become more and more cluttered and noisy. I crave a safe space where I can meet regularly, face-to-face, with other artists and creatives and pour my heart out about art, creativity and the meaningful things in life. I also want to make myself available as a creative counselor, offering what I have learned over the years as a self taught artist.

My vision for Dear Artists Circle is to offer a combination of community support and creative learning. I put this idea out into the world a year ago, and many brave women felt the same way and joined to help me create this beautiful and evolving space.

If this sounds like it could be what you’ve been looking for, I would love to schedule a free 15-minute introductory call with you.

“I joined the Dear Artists community because I wanted to make an investment in myself. I planned to be a fly on the wall and just soak in everything I could, but I was drawn in from the start.

I didn’t realize that one of the most important things I needed as an artists was to do this journey the way that worked for me - not try to conform to my perceived route to success. Benz gave me permission and space to figure that out.

If you feel stuck or isolated in your artistic journey,I encourage you to jump in this community - even for a few months. You’ll be inspired, and you’ll meet some amazing people. ”

I found the Dear Artist's Circle to be so attuned to what I was feeling at the time as I was shifting my ideals around what it means to be an artist.  Being a member of this group of gorgeous women from all over the world has provided me with a sounding board to share openly and gain insight into other's experiences, dreams and journeys within in safe and considerate space. When we all come together as women, it's amazing to see what magic unfolds. This group is awesome and I feel very proud to be a member of this community of amazing women.

It's hard to list just one thing I enjoy about being a member of the Dear Artists Circle however, I think what I've enjoyed most are the guest artist talks as they've revealed to me that there isn't a right way or wrong way to pursue your creative path. All of us, the members of the Circle, artists that come to speak to us or even the creatives we follow and admire in the world are simply forging ahead the best we know how. It's given me comfort in knowing that I'm not alone in this ''roller coaster'' of ride we call the artist life.

The Dear Artists circle and framework has given me a place to pause from the pressure to hustle or make more faster. It’s provided me with a new perspective on what art making could look like in my life; how I define what success means for me. The other women artists are so supportive and transparent about the challenges they face and what works for them. I know I can come to this circle for help turning inward with a healthy dose of nonjudgmental guidance and encouragement.

FAQs

What will I gain from joining the circle?

Our mission for the circle is for you to first and foremost develop a deep relationship with your artist self. We believe that creating from this place of connection is the key to a creative success. We dedicate a lot of time in the circle to help each artist get to know themselves, their creative desire and purpose better.

You will also grow creatively. Each of our creative assignment is designed to challenge the way you create. Benz is excited to share the process she has been using in her own studio to help her find her artistic voice. Be prepared to evolve creatively.

We are also fostering a beautiful creative connection within the circle. Our circle attracts kind and considerate artists who are willing to do the inner work. We are excited to bring together this beautiful group and know that beautiful relationships will be developed.

Will I get any tangible results from the circle?

If you are dedicated to participating in the prompts and group discussions - absolutely! Over the first few weeks, you’ll define your personal definition of success, identify false beliefs that have been holding you back, create a routine and plan to move towards your true goals, create a meaningful artist statement, learn how to confidently discuss your art in front of others, and so much more! Every month our artist members will also receive a creative assignment to help grow their creative practice. If you are committed to working on these assignments, you will see some changes.

Have more questions? We would love to hear from you!
